Absolutely amazing NewYear break
What an amazing place to stay, from checking in on our 4 night break to checking out everything was first class. The rooms furnished to a high standard, the food was outstanding and the staff were very attentive. Also so dog friendly. We absolutely loved our mini break and will definitely be back.

Pre Xmas Get Away
We took advantage of a Travelzoo offer to stay for a couple of nights (Sun & Mon) in the run up to Xmas and it offered good value for money. The room was spacious and well equipped and the breakfasts were superb. We ate in the hotel one evening and had no complaints. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we'd happily return.

Another Fantastic Stay.
Just returned from a weekend break at The Middle House, as our previous stay the accommodation is very clean and comfortable, all staff are friendly and the food and drinks choices are excellent.I would recommend The Middle House to anyone wanting a relaxing break in the Dales.

Lovely break away
The hotel has had an amazing transformation,our room was cosy and warm with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The breakfast was so good, it really set us up for the day. The staff are really friendly and our stay was just what we needed. We will be back.

Superb Experience
We've just had a 5 day stay at The Middle House Askrigg to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary and both thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The Middle House is warm welcoming and all the staff are friendly, helpful with nothing too much trouble. The food is excellent andcertainly recommended Thank you to Johnand all the team we will definitely be back

Cosy and friendly
We enjoyed our brief stay at Middle House and would certainly make a return visit in the future. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our room comfortable. We were sent on our way with full bellies after a very decent breakfast. What's not to like? Excellent!

Fabulous Find
New owners have taken over this hotel in February 2024 and have started renovating it and doing a terrific job. Stayed for 2 nights 8 & 9th Dec - what a fabulous find - super room, great staff & the food outstanding - all freshly cooked with good quality produce, very generous portions & served piping hot. The hotel is ideally located to explore Wensleydale. We would highly recommend & will definitelybook return visits- can’t wait to return. Wishing you best wishes & every success for the future. Great Stay in Askrigg
Middle House provided everything we needed for a short walking break in the Dales. Friendly staff, warm spotlessly clean bedroom and lots to chose from for a great breakfast. The bar had a good choice of local ales and although we didn’t have an evening meal the menu looked great. Askrigg is a beautiful place. The Falls are a must. Thanks!

Just had a lovely midweek three night stay at the hotel. Super friendly staff, great food (breakfast and dinner), comfortable bed with quality bed linen, room very clean and warm with views of the countryside. No complaints at all. Askrigg is a pretty village and a great base from which to explore the area. Would definitely stay again.

What a find !!
Middle House was recommended to us by family who stayed for the first time in October. We did not hesitate to book and would definitely recommend to others. Poor little Jack Russell came with us and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff are so accommodating and the breakfasts are first class. The room was warm and comfortable and the Christmas lights and decorations make it so inviting. We also met some lovely people who have moved to Askrigg so will be back. Thank you.

A very nice stay
We were in room 9 on the second floor, which is dog friendly with double aspect windows and lovely views. Bitterly cold weather and the need for warm clothes and coats meant it was a bit tight on wardrobe space. Very friendly staff and a nice atmosphere in the bar during the evening with a coal fire and local folk as well as guests. We are spoilt to live near the coast and moors in North Yorkshire, but every time we visit the Yorkshire Dales we revel in the magnificent variety of scenery as you travel around. Askrigg is an ideal place to use as a base.

Two day break away
I booked the middle house Hotel fairly last minute as a break away with my Mum and 6yr old lab Hector.We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here. All staff so friendly and welcoming. A big tick for me was the exceptional cleanliness of the place and most importantly our room. I have stayed in many dog friendly rooms, lodges etc and sometimes they don't hit the mark with cleanliness, which can spoil a break away.We had an evening meal here, again good quality ingredients and well presented. Attentive bar and waiting staff.Thank you very much for allowing us to stay and we would love to come back again in the near future.

Fabulous!
We arrived a little early but were warmly welcomed by the house keeper.John checked us in shortly afterwards.We were given the keys to our room, which was a superior double.It was a lovely warm and spacious,dual aspect room . It had great views. It was spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable bed. The shower was really hot and powerful !We ate dinner on the first evening and had breakfast on both mornings. The food was really delicious!! The portions were generous and priced reasonably.All the staff we spoke to were really pleasant and helpful.Great base for anyone that likes walking .Will definitely return !

We really enjoyed our stay at Middle house for 2 nights. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished, our room was a comfy double which was well kitted out with everything we needed, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean.Breakfast was exceptionally good with plenty of choice and beautifully presented. We choose to have evening meal both nights in the hotel, everything we had was delicious, we were spoilt for choice with yummy desserts.The whole place is very welcoming, lovely bar and restaurant area. The staff were all really smiley, friendly and happy to help, just how a good hotel should be.We look forward to our next visit. Thanks for a lovely break.

Very welcoming, comfortable rooms and warm
Enjoyed all that was on offer. The renovations have made this hotel a very good base for exploring the Dales.

Thank you.A couple of minor things that detracted a little: noise of boiler coming on and off through the night disturbed sleep a bit (room 9). At breakfast, the option of a plain yoghurt alongside the sweetened flavoured ones, would be welcome.

We stayed for 3 nights at this lovely hotel. Our room was nice, clean and warm. The staff are friendly and helpful, we had evening meals each night, so tasty and beautifully served. Our breakfasts were delicious and filling, kept us going all day, while we went on some great walks around the lovely village of Askrigg.We will certainly return to this smashing little place. A lovely country hotel
We stayed at Middle House earlier this week and really enjoyed our stay. The room, the food , the service and the friendly atmosphere were excellent. We have already highly recommended it to family and friends as a great little hotel in a beautiful setting. Thank you for making us feel so welcome . We will definitely be returning.

Welcoming
A really nice hotel, and reasonably priced for what you get. I stayed in a king room, airy and bright, loved the seated area. Very clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and so helpful and the quality of food was a pleasant surprise.

Lovely area to stay in
When first arriving, keep eyes peeled, could be easy to drive past and miss the hotel car park sign. Staff are excellent, helpful and attentive. Very popular place,good to see , good atmosphere.Very nice surroundings.Food is superb, drinks are overpriced, had a white wine spritzer with lemonade and the lemonade cost nearly £5 . Moving on,the room was ok, bed quite creaky, bathroom good plenty of hot water. Nice that there was complimentary toiletries,plus you can order more tea, coffee biscuits etc. Very handy locationAysgarth Falls a must.

Excellent stay
Booked a 3 night stay. Had a "comfy double" room. Whole vibe of Middle House is relaxed but very attentive to guests needs. We liked the fact that the staff only cameinto the room if requested but had a system of renewing towels and tea,coffee etc as required.You could also choose to havechamber maid service as well. Everywhere clean and in good order. Breakfasts superb and very good food. Excellent quality and portion sizes. Staff very friendly and helpful.Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Treated royally
This is a very well run hotel with an excellent restaurant. The staff were well trained and were ready to take ownership of any issues.We were given really royal treatment by owners and staff.The owners had purchased the business earlier in the year.They had brought the public spaces to an excellent standard.The bedrooms were tidy and the owners plan to refurbish them, one at a time.We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and restaurant.

Really good traditional Dales hotel
This hotel is a favourite of ours.We've stayed here many times over several years as Askrigg is an ideal spot for touring around the Dales.This last visit we saw a recent refurbishment by the new management making a huge improvement.Staff are all friendly and helpful.Clean ,comfortable rooms and a very good restaurant which has been busy every time we've stayed there ... which speaks for itself.Couldn't fault the food and especially the steak pie 🤌 which has to be the best I ever tasted.Parking and pleasant beer garden .Recommend highly.Do try

Our stay has been absolutely. Fantastic .. our room was lovely and the bed for me … well let’s just say o slept like a baby every night. The hospitality from the whole team at Middle House was by far exceptional. The breakfast was delicious and I would recommend the venison shepherds pie it was delicious. Hawes is a short drive away or you could walk it and it is a pretty easy walk as init a lot of hills etc etc.. All in all I would most def give Middle house a big shout out to you all and def 5star .. Thank you all for our lovely stay..

Excellent Stay
We had a very enjoyable three night break at the Middle House. It is a very comfortable and welcoming hotel, and the owners and staff are all very friendly and helpful. All the meals were very good and the beer was exceptionally well kept.We will look forward to staying at the Middle House again next time we are in the area.

Pretty much perfect.
We were made very welcome and our accommodation in a ‘Superior King’ was very nice. A comfortable armchair apiece made our rest time relaxing.We enjoyed our meals greatly, both breakfast and dinner, with a good choice, well cooked, available from the day’s menu. Lovely local beers are well worth tasting.Our holiday over, it’s back to the usual diet!🙁Ah well! Another time, perhaps!We’d certainly recommend Middle House.

Had a lovely relaxing stay at this hotel.The room was very comfortable, clean, with 2 armchairs which we were appreciative off. The bed was so comfortable which ensured some really good nights sleep. We ate in the evenings at this hotel as well as breakfast which was included.All food was delicious, cooked to order.The staff were very friendly and helpful.This hotel is a little gem, we will definitely stay there again when next in Yorkshire.

We have stayed at The Middle House (formerly The White Rose) for a weekend in September for three years running. We have always enjoyed our stay and been given excellent service. This year, there has been major refurbishment under the new management, together with some changes to the menu, and our stay has been even better than before. We wish the new management every success going into the future.

Top comfort with a relaxed atmosphere
The decor has a modern feel overall but with some nice traditional style furniture here & there. The bedroom and en suite bathroom were spacious and there was plenty of hot water. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and the food was well cooked and nicely presented. There was a good choice of meals on the evening menu at reasonable prices and a choice of Yorkshire real ales on the bar. It was also great to have a safe car park behind the building, along with a lovely outdoor seating area.

Great place to stay!
Middle House was perfect for our trip to the Yorkshire Dales area.Everyone who works there was really helpful with anything we needed and went out of their way.The breakfast was really great with both a cooked breakfast and a continental breakfast.Dinner was excellent as well.The parking at the back was convenient too.There’s no elevator, so you’ll need to be prepared to carry your bags up to your room.I would absolutely recommend Middle House, and I would hope to be able to stay there again if I’m back in that area.

Our stay was wonderful. The staff werefriendly and attentive. Everything from the cleanliness of the hotel to the cooked breakfast was off a very standard. The only comment I would make and it is not a complaint is that our stay would have been 100% if the bed in our room was bigger... just that we not used to sleeping in a double bed!

After having returned from a 4 night stay here I have to say it was an absolute delight, Tom ,Craig and the lovely, so friendly team made us so welcome from the great atmosphere around bar and it’s superb beers to the dining experience with consistent fabulous breakfast & evening dinner. Large room, very comfy double bed and seating area. Quite dated, but in keeping with the country style. Very small and dated bathroom, however, spotless! Lovely shower gel, shampoo and hand wash.No fridge, but small kettle and lots of tea/coffee. Staff are faultless! Could not be more helpful, warm and attentive. Excellent breakfast, locally sourced. We would stay again.

We had a lovely stay here in the picturesque Askrigg, The middle house was perfect for our visit, the weather was beautiful so we had use of the lovely garden outside and the food at bith dinner and breakfast was delicious. The room was comfortable and we slept well, also the staff were very courteous too

Middle House is a fine hotel located in the picturesque village of Askrigg, and makes an excellent base for walking holidays in Wensleydale. The staff are friendly and helpful and a variety of good quality pub food is served in the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Middle House is in a lovely location and gives a very warm welcome.All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food (dinner and breakfast) were fab.Downstairs the decor is stylish and inviting and my only very small criticism is that our bedroom seemed a little tired in comparison although it was very clean and the bed was comfortable.I would definitely recommend a stay at Middle House and we hope to return in the future.

Room was pleasant and clean with plenty of tea and coffee. Nice soft towels with nice toiletries. The breakfast was amazing, the best I’ve had in long time, crispy hash browns and a perfect poached egg! Nice buffet selection to start too!

Hidden gem
Absolutely fantastic place to stay. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, as was the food. We ate here for both breakfast and evening meals for the 2 nights we were here and each meal was great. Lovely atmosphere in the pub as well. Highly recommended.

What a great place to stay! We (mother and daughter) had a fab 4 nights and wish we'd gone for longer. Breakfast and dinner were both really tasty, breakfast was our favourite with loads of choice!The twin room was lovely, the beds were really comfortable, we slept really well and the shower was good and powerful!We met John, one of the owners. He was so hard working!! He never stopped, what a lovely person. All staff were friendly and welcoming.We loved our stay, thank you!

My friend and I had finished a walking holiday and just had a relaxing day. We booked a room at Middle House at the last minute as we were not happy with the hotel we had booked in advance.We had a really good experience. The staff welcomed us, the room was spacious and clean. We ate in the bar and the food was excellent. The atmosphere was lovely with locals and tourists.Askrigg is a beautiful village.All in all a really lovely end to our walking week. Thank you.

Great Stay
Booked three nights at The Middle House, the hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere you go, the rooms have all you need for a relaxing stay. Staff are all friendly and helpful.The bar has a good selection of drinks to choose from and we had lovely meals.Definitely worth a stay if you are in Wensleydale.

Absolutely incredible !!
The middle house is such a breath of fresh air! We have stayed in Hawes for 5years for our anniversary and regularly visited Askrigg when this place was the white rose. I have to be honest when I booked I didn’t realise it was the same place but they have transformed it it’s classy and traditional at the same time. Food is incredible and they’re so dog friendly which is a plus with us having two. We came in may and then again in June we love it that much ! Thank you to all the team ❤️ we will be back xx

Great hotel
This was a great find. Booked last minute to break our trip home from Scotland. Rooms were just as expected, very clean and comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast. The food was great, plenty of choices and the staff were friendly and helpful. Lively bar with good selection if beers. We would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional Stay
John, Aimee and staff could not have been more welcoming and caring. The menu and food were exceptional. Being knowledgeable regarding Coeliac requirements gave me confidence, even providing GF biscuits for our room. One suggestion would be to provide bathroom hooks for Toilet bags and a towel rail in the bathroom. Otherwise a fantastic week away. Thank you, especially to Aimee who gave up her days off during our visit.

The hotel is being transformed and we enjoyed a super stay
This hotel is being steadily renovated to a really good standard. The rooms are well equipped, comfortable and clean whilst retaining period charm. The staff are excellent - friendly and very helpful. We were part of a large group staying at the hotel and we were all impressed by the range of dining options which were invariably well presented and delicious with careful consideration to those with dietary limitations. All in all it was an excellent stay in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

A Warm Welcome!
We stayed for 2 nights in May with our little dog. The room was spacious with a lovely welcome treat for our dog!The breakfast was really nice on both days with a good selection of cereals and juice etc.There is plenty of walking routes from the doorstep with the local town of Hawes a short drive away.

Excellent stay
Room was spacious and very clean.Good shower and comfortable bed.We had nice view across the houses of the dales.Breakfast and dinner very good. We liked being able to park on site. We would most definitely stay again when back in the area.

Staff were welcoming, efficient, flexible in meeting our needs.Food was excellent, served with skill, well presented (though all the separate little pots could make managing it on the plate tricky!). Room 12 was a good size with comfortable beds and plenty of storage for clothing. Two small chairs instead of the bucket chair would have been preferable. More hooks for towels and rainproofs would have been useful.Room 5 was small with limited storage space but again comfortable. Hooks would have been useful. Bar and dining rooms were pleasant, could be very noisy and definitely need cushions (for the vertically challenged!). As a group of walkers we would recommend Middle House highly.

Once again a lovely stay; very comfortable bed; excellent food(both evening meal+breakfast) + lovely relaxed pub atmosphere. Wishing the new owners every success+happiness here+ looking forward to many Dales weekends at the Middle House.

A hidden gem!
A last minute decision to go to the Middle House in Askrigg as we couldn't get in anywhere at nearby Hawes. Well how lucky were we?John (the owner) was the ultimate friendly host and nothing was too much trouble for him to ensure our stay was enjoyable.Middle House only re-opened 8wks ago as refurbishment is a work in progress. Lovely staff, fabulous food I can't praise it highly enough. Well done John (and family) you deserve to be successful, we will return.

Lovely first stay
First time stay to Middle House and felt at home.Warm welcome upon arrival, a clean and large bedroom and good food and service in the evening for dinner.After a good nights sleep, the breakfast was champion with lovely sausages!

We booked a last minute stay to visit friends locally. As a family of 5, John accommodated our needs without any problems. We had a very comfortable stay.We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and both were excellent, with super service.We will definitely be back.

Stayed last month with our 2 year old ( a couple of weeks after the opening). Bar area, restaurant, and bedrooms have all been redecorated to a high standard.Food & drink great.Staff were very welcoming and always asked if we needed anything.
