If you’re searching for places to eat in the Yorkshire Dales, you can’t do much better than a visit to The Middle House in the picturesque village of Askrigg.

After a day spent exploring the rolling hills, winding lanes and dramatic landscapes of the Dales, there’s nothing more satisfying than sitting down to a delicious meal. Our friendly front-of-house team will greet you on arrival and show you to your table, where you can settle into the relaxed charm of our traditional country restaurant. With its warm lighting and dark wood furnishings, the dining room offers a cosy setting that reflects the welcoming spirit of Yorkshire hospitality.


Enjoy Traditional Dishes

Our carefully curated menu celebrates the best of traditional Yorkshire food, with dishes made using high-quality ingredients sourced from trusted local suppliers wherever possible. Fresh meat products are supplied by the renowned Hammond’s of Bainbridge, ensuring every dish delivers the rich, authentic flavours our guests return for time and time again.

We also cater for a range of dietary requirements, including a selection of gluten-free options. While our kitchen is compact and we cannot guarantee dishes are entirely free from gluten, our team takes great care in preparing these meals to minimise any potential risk.

After your meal, we invite guests to relax and unwind in our welcoming bar area. Here you can enjoy a carefully chosen selection of drinks, including Wensleydale cask ales brewed nearby in Leyburn. If you’d prefer a more casual setting, our full menu is also available in the bar- simply let a member of the team know when you arrive.


Kitchen Opening Times

Lunch is served from 12 noon – 2pm, Friday to Sunday (no lunch service Monday – Thursday).

Dinner is served daily from 5:30pm – 8pm.
